Erkut Terliksiz opened his second solo exhibition, this time titled “Till we meet again,” at the X-Ist Gallery in Nişantaşı.

For Terliksiz painting is an experience close to madness. According to the artist, drawing provides a way for him to discover unknown senses he cannot control. When drawing Terliksiz does not literally go mad, but enters a state that borders insanity.

In his new exhibition, which will run until Dec. 11, Terliksiz opens his private life to visitors. The drawings depict the monsters in his dreams, and seek to connect the audience to the surreal state of dreams, while emphasizing feelings of anger, excitement and pain.

Unknown senses exist in the drawings, and communicate with the viewers, according to Terliksiz.

His works encourage viewers to leave yesterday behind and look forward to tomorrow. Although the beginning of the exhibition feels like a love story, the works actually depict a spiritual renewal through time.

“Deep relationships around us force us to face realities and challenges,” said Terliksiz. “Those challenges make us more than we are, and make us strong and more free.”

Drawing also allows an artist to test his or her limits, according to Terliksiz.

Terliksiz has born in Adana in 1978. He graduated from Mimar Sinan and has participated in joint exhibitions in Australia, England, Spain and Germany.
